چکیده

The widespread use of low-cost environmental monitoring systems, together with recent developments in the design Internet Things architectures and protocols, has given new impetus to smart city applications. Such progress should, particular, considerably improve fine characterization a wide range physical quantities within our cities. Indeed, cost-effectiveness these emerging sensors combined their reduced size allows for high-density deployments resulting higher spatial granularity. In this article, we briefly present 3M'Air project that aims explore potential participatory citizen measures using order local knowledge air quality temperature then bridge gap between individual exposure regional measurements. We design, implementation, evaluation low-cost, small-size wireless sensor network (WSN)-based system. This system is composed mobile sensing nodes measuring temperature, humidity, number pollutants (NO2, PM1, PM2.5, PM10). collected data are sent server analysis building maps. To validate platform, have carried out multiple tests compare reference stations each other. also evaluated energy consumption under different configurations. results satisfactory show can be used monitoring.

Adaptive Sampling for Urban Air Quality through Participatory Sensing

Air pollution is one of the major problems of the modern world. The popularization and powerful functions of smartphone applications enable people to participate in urban sensing to better know about the air problems surrounding them. Data sampling is one of the most important problems that affect the sensing performance. In this paper, we propose an Adaptive Sampling Scheme for Urban Air Quali...

Participatory Patterns in an International Air Quality Monitoring Initiative

The issue of sustainability is at the top of the political and societal agenda, being considered of extreme importance and urgency. Human individual action impacts the environment both locally (e.g., local air/water quality, noise disturbance) and globally (e.g., climate change, resource use). Urban environments represent a crucial example, with an increasing realization that the most effective...

Urban climates and heat islands: albedo, evapotranspiration, and anthropogenic heat

As an introduction to this special issue on urban heat islands and cool communities, this paper reviews some of the characteristics of urban climates and the causes and effects of urban heat islands. In particular, the impacts of surface albedo, evapotranspiration, and anthropogenic heating on the near-surface climate are discussed. Numerical simulations and field measurements indicate that inc...

Agent-Based Modeling of an Air Quality Monitoring and Analysis System for Urban Regions

Air quality is one of the main priorities for the improvement of the life quality in urban regions, as air pollution is usually, concentrated in such densely populated areas. Most of the countries have a national air quality monitoring network that allow an analysis of the air quality status, especially for urban regions that are nodes in this network. As the network is geographically distribut...
